Brick by brick: reshape the dovecote | CONCF-3105 | 2024-07-17 - 2024-07-31 | RENO | Age: 15 - 17

The municipality is committed to ecological, social and heritage projects that have enhanced the quality of life. Toulouse and its area are home to many citizen organizations that keep culture and nature alive.

Work: In the heart of Occitany, close to Toulouse, is Auzielle, a small semi-rural village built in traditional red bricks. You will renovate Auzielle’s dovecote (pigeon house). The building s surroundings are used for sports and leisure. For example, kids can play there, and the inhabitants can organize yoga sessions. The park near the dovecote is a place for celebrations and local associative events. You will renew the dovecote external walls, recovering the original and traditional bricks. In this workcamp, you will have a technical guide that will teach you the bases of masonry techniques. This intervention may include moving at height on scaffolding, following all the safety rules. There were already teams working in Auzielle the previous years. You will form part of the last group, so you are going to continue the work done by other teams of volunteers. During free time there will be activities to discover Toulouse and the neighboring area.

Accomodation and food: You will be accommodated in tents– bring your sleeping bags – and will have access to showers and toilets. The campsite is a few yards away from the houses and provides space for the group. The group will share the cleaning tasks and prepare meals together. You will prepare the meals in shifts and participate in the organization of the collective life (planning, cleaning, shopping, etc.). We will encourage the purchase of local and seasonal products.
