The municipality is committed to restoring its local heritage through international workcamps. You will also work together with a local heritage NGO : Longages Heritage.The Longages town council and the association encourage various ecological, civic and cultural initiatives. The local culture on offer (markets, concerts, festivals, etc.) is amazing in the region. The local residents already welcomed a group of volunteers two years ago, and look forward to welcoming you again!

Work: Welcome to the sunny Southwest! You will participate in an international volunteer project organized by Concordia NGO in Longages village, a rural location half an hour from Toulouse. The project aims to create links between locals, visitors and volunteers. You will participate in recovering historical heritage, by working on the entrance of an old cemetery. You will also work on putting together the broken or fallen gravestones, restoring them as how they used to be (don’t worry, the cemetery is completely empty, and no corpses will be laying around!). You will learn some masonry techniques and work with the traditional red bricks.

Accomodation and food: You will be accommodated in a tent, with access to toilets, showers and a kitchen. You will take part in the preparation of meals and the management of the living area (organization of schedules, households, races, etc.). We promote use of local and seasonal products. Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. You will wash your clothes and other items manually.

Location and Leisure: Longages is a charming town in the South of France, only half an hour from Toulouse city center. You will find a countryside atmosphere and traditional markets. You will have the opportunity to discover a welcoming population. They already hosted a workcamp, and they cannot wait to meet another group!

Consider taking clothes and footwear for work (including rain). Bring a warm duvet or sleeping bag and a good mattress (tent sleeping), the nights are sometimes cool and humid. And remember to take a bathing suit in case of a possible swim. Don’t hesitate to bring home specialties, photos, games, musical instruments, etc.
