This project is actively working for SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), organized together with Malaysian Organization of Volunteer Exchange (MOVE) since 2020 in this place. MOVE is a workcamp NGO founded in 2006. MAB (Malaysian Association for the Blind) is the premier voluntary organization in Malaysia serving blind & visually impaired persons. Since 1951, MAB carries out educational programs, rehabilitation courses, vocational training and placement services as well as runs a braille library, an audio book, etc. MAB Rehabilitation and Training Center in Kinta Valley was started in 2012. The people who are certified as blind by medical doctor, half blind and going to be blind will register themselves at MAB. From MAB in KL, these visually challenged people are sent to Kinta Valley training Centre to get training to lead their challenging life as a normal person. After the trainning they will be go home, look for job and start living independently. They hosted the first workcamp in 2020 Mar. with 4 Japanese vols. that was great success, but due to the Covit-19, the project has been stopped and finally decided to be restarted with big expectations!

Work: The visually challenged trainees will get training on living skills. The volunteers will assist the trainers in the training process. The visually challenged trainees will be taken for out door activities too. That time volunteers will be a great help for this Centre to conduct the outdoor training. They may work in 08:30-17:30 with the lunch and twice of tea breaks.

Accomodation and food: Volunteers will stay in the dormitories of MAB facility (female and male are separated) located in 2 min. walk distance from the training center. Meals will be provided (07:00, 13:00 and 18:30). Sleeping bag is necessary.

Location: KintaValley

Location and Leisure: The Kinta Valley in the northern Malaysia. It is a quiet town in up north Malaysia. There is less crowd and good breathtaking from busy city.

Train/Bus station: Kuala Lumpur - Volunteers will leave the MAB facility in KL (Kuala Lumpur) together in the morning of Sep. 02, so need to arrive at KL by the end of Sep. 01. They can come back to KL together on the last day and can leave the airport from the night on the last day.

Requirements: High motivation to work with the visually impaired persons and to respect local culture/ way. Experience of similar type of service is welcomed! 950 MYR (177 EUR by the rate on 2024 Nov. 19) to be paid on your arrivals. 10% less for repeaters of MOVE workcamps and those from less expensive countries.
