Glocal Intern in Yokohama 4 | NICE-26L-GIe4 | 2026-09-19 - 2027-03-28 | CULT | Age: 18 - 99

This project is actively working for SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDGs 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions) organized by NICE itself for the first time. NICE has hosted AVS (Asian Voluntary Service) program in 2023 Aug.-Sep. and 2025 Feb.-Mar. where the volunteers from Asia has greatly contributed to help the international workcamps and some office work including organizing the promotional events. So, we would like to develop this by opening a door to all over the world!

Work: Volunteers will help the work of NICE headquarter such as 1) Public Relations (Creating short movies of workcamps and spread through SNS and mass media, etc.), 2) Organizing or assisting promotion events and weekend workcamps, 3) Joining the international workcamps in Japan as a volunteer or if possible, camp leader, 4) Assisting the training seminars of NICE volunteers, etc.

Accomodation and food: NICE House with its headquarter. Shared room with a Japanese volunteer of the same sex will be provided (and sometimes with several vols. when there are seminars, etc.). Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. House is located in a few min. walk distance from the nearest subway station, equips all basic facilities and has a nice garden with many fruit trees! When the volunteers join the workcamps, accommodations and meals will be same as other volunteers.

Location: Kanagawa

Location and Leisure: South part of Yokohama city surrounded by many houses and some green area. City center of Yokohama and Kamakura are quite near (30 min. by train) and it takes 1-1.5 hours to Tokyo by trains. Other activities - Exchange parties, experiencing Japanese culture, home stay, etc.

Airport: TYO

Train/Bus station: The nearest airport is Tokyo (NRT or HND). It will take about 3 hours from NRT/ 1.5 hours from HND by train. Volunteers need to join On Arrival and Evaluation Seminars in this place, so should arrive at Tokyo airport by 08:00 on the starting day and can leave Tokyo airport after 18:00 on the ending day.

Requirements: Motivation letter is needed! Good Japanese speaking and writing skill. High motivation to learn and speak Japanese language and to work hard with enjoying the simple and collective life. Respect for the local culture and way of the local organization. High interests in the management of International Voluntary Service NGO. Open mind, good manner and flexibility.

Extra Fee: 72000 JPY

Study theme - Volunteers will get knowledge of various voluntary work, NGO management in Japan, etc. Participation fee - 36,000 JPY (200 EUR by the rate on 2025 Nov. 3rd) for MTV (30-182 days participation) and 72,000 JPY (400 EUR by the rate on 2025 Nov. 3rd) for LTV (over 182 days participation) of NICE Volunteers fee need to be paid in advance either by Card or PayPal. This is used for the project preparation and coordination such as the transportation of the staff/ camp leaders, visa invitation cost, publications, etc. while the meals and the accommodation are provided by the local host by free. Other - We can open the place for international volunteers ONLY IF we already have a Japanese volunteer of the same sex in the same period.
