Living and working on a traditional farm in Nepal will no doubt be a getaway for those of you that feel a therapeutic need of getting closer to nature; feel the fresh earth in your hands and under your bare feet. Work the land the way our forefathers had, all on a traditional Nepalese farm. Tend and care for the animals on the farm. The rewarding work, the rural and exotic beauty of Nepal coupled with a warm and welcoming tradition- bound community will make this project worth your while. You will be placed with a Nepalese family.

Work: Daily Activities-Work closely with Nepali farmers and teach/learn farming methods.-Feed and care for the animals that belong to the farm. Garden and farm.-Participate in the maintenance of the farm.-Conduct awareness classes against the use of chemicals.

Accomodation and food: The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.

Location: KATHMANDU

Location and Leisure: Jitpurphedi is a community in Tarakeshwor Municipality, located 10-15 km from Kathmandu s main ring road, surrounded by hills, fields, and woods. You can go sightseeing at various sites around the community. Siddhicharan Municipality, Ward 2, Nisankhe-Nestled in Okhaldhunga district, about 250 km from Kathmandu. -Accessible via local jeep (8i10 hours). -Scenic hills, fertile farmland, and dense forests surround it. Requirements: We accept volunteers twice monthly, on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. You are required to arrive a day before your project start date. -Basic English should be spoken among the participants - Physically sound as per the project requirements.

A VIN staff member will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details in advance so we can provide a name card with the VIN logo.
