As one of the world s poorest countries, Nepal faces many challenges to public health. In the rural communities, the government offers few facilities to support the health of its people. Illiterate, many people do not have the means to change their health, sanitation and hygiene practices and remain unaware of the major health risks and how to minimize them. Nepal also lacks efficient mental health services with limited diagnostic, treatment and availability of human resources to address mental health issues. This project will help promote healthy lifestyle in terms of physical and mental being.

Work: Daily Activities-Facilitate workshops on healthy living, such as foods, diet and nutrition.-Reach out to different groups of children and women to facilitate dance sessions or meditation classes.

Accomodation and food: The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.

Location: KATHMANDU

Location and Leisure: Jitpurphedi is a community in Tarakeshwor Municipality, located 10-15 km from Kathmandu s main ring road, surrounded by hills, fields, and woods. You can go sightseeing at various sites around the community. Siddhicharan Municipality, Ward 2, Nisankhe-Nestled in Okhaldhunga district, about 250 km from Kathmandu. -Accessible via local jeep (8i10 hours). -Scenic hills, fertile farmland, and dense forests surround it. For more details about the region, visit www.ntchc.org.VIN also organizes weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at an additional cost if you are interested.

Requirements: We accept volunteers twice monthly, on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. You are required to arrive a day before your project start date. -Basic English should be spoken among the participants - Physically sound as per the project requirements.

A VIN staff member will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details in advance so we can provide a name card with the VIN logo.
