Microcredit Cooperative Support projects have been key to the recent surge of women s income generation projects. VIN s support and training has enabled many women to join the Womens Micro- Credit Cooperative. Women are now afforded credit. This in turn permits them to start their own income generation activities, such as goat keeping and vegetable farming. Your role is critical to advance the functionality of these cooperatives.

Work: Daily Activities-Support VIN to set up women s cooperatives to run micro-credits.-Establish or strengthen social groups of women to create solidarity and reinforce microcredit.-Facilitate and advance functionality of microcredit cooperatives.-Develop small grant proposals to fund women s empowerment projects.-If possible: research for funding agencies and raise funds for local projects.

Accomodation and food: The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.

Location: KATHMANDU

Location and Leisure: Jitpurphedi is a community in Tarakeshwor Municipality, located 10-15 km from Kathmandu s main ring road, surrounded by hills, fields, and woods. You can go sightseeing at various sites around the community. Siddhicharan Municipality, Ward 2, Nisankhe-Nestled in Okhaldhunga district, about 250 km from Kathmandu. -Accessible via local jeep (8i10 hours). -Scenic hills, fertile farmland, and dense forests surround it. Requirements: We accept volunteers twice monthly, on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. You are required to arrive a day before your project start date. -Basic English should be spoken among the participants - Physically sound as per the project requirements.

A VIN staff member will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details in advance so we can provide a name card with the VIN logo.
