About the Project

La Riba is a youth camp managed by the Fundació Escolta

Josep Carol for the Generalitat de Catalunya, designed to

allow various youth groups and educational entities to

access nature.

It is a natural space set up as a camping ground, open year-

round for children and youth, with facilities including a

kitchen, shelter, swimming pool, showers, and toilets.

Over 1,000 people camp here annually, and the wear and

tear of some spaces is evident.

This project includes a rehabilitation task for some

common areas of the camping grounds to leave them in the

best possible condition.

Description of the technical tasks

Work sessions run during 5 days in the mornings, lasting up to 4 hours a

day. Schedules can be flexible depending on the group and weather, so

there’s plenty of room to enjoy the day.

Afternoons, evenings, are free for fun activities, exploring the area, or

joining optional activities suggested by the camp.

The following are the main tasks:

Clearing: to help prevent forest fires in the nearby wooded area,

participants will clear the underbrush in collaboration with forest

rangers. If weather conditions do not allow for the work to be carried

out outdoors, an alternative will be sought.

Repairs: since there are many participant visits, there are areas of

the campsite that need to be repaired and restored.

Signage: To make it easier to access the different areas of the

campsite, various wooden signs will be made. Insect hotel: It is very

important for the children and young people who visit the campsite

to understand the biodiversity that exists there. We will create an

insect hotel so that participants can observe the different animals

that visit us.

Barcelona-El Prat or the Aeroport de Reus.
