The General Directorate of Youth (www.xuventude.xunta.es) is a department of the Xunta de Galicia (www.xunta.gal) whose priority is to meet the needs and concerns of the young population living in Galicia, firmly believing that youth has much to contribute to society as a whole. We work to improve the quality of life of young people in our autonomous community, developing actions and programs that benefit them, increase their well-being and allow them to improve their skill.

Work: The main theme of this workcamp is heritage and archaeology. The tasks to be carried out will include excavation, clearing of undergrowth (brushwood), removal of roots and timber, and site sanitation. Additionally, participants will immerse themselves in the local community through active participation in the Romería de San Lourenzo, which takes place at the hillfort (castro) on August 10th. The participants work will contribute to a better understanding of the site. The activities will revolve around two main axes: excavation under technical supervision of the hillfort s wall area (3rd–2nd centuries BCE) and the excavation of existing graves in the medieval necropolis (9th–12th centuries CE). Ensuring that participants understand the importance of their work—both at an archaeological level and in terms of its significance for the local community—is a priority for this project. Therefore, throughout the activities, a strong emphasis will be placed on archaeological methodology, while fostering meaningful interaction with the local community as a cross-cutting theme.

Accomodation and food: The accommodation of the participants will be in the municipal hostel. Address: Av. de Outeiro, 37. 27331 A Pobra de Brollón - Lugo The participants will rest on bunks. Boarding includes full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be served in local hospitality establishments close to the place of accommodation.
